“To put the wor…

“To put the world right in order, we must first put the nation in order; to put the nation in order, we must first put the family in order; to put the family in order, we must first cultivate our personal life; we must first set our hearts right.”
Confucius (551-479);

Tonight I went out with a friend to Camera Club, a very informative night on filters and how to use them, and as we generally do on the way back, we started to put the world to rights. We would never make politicians –

I would: Expect all drivers on renewing their licence at 70 to undergo a proper eye test, have reactions tested, and an observed driving assessment before the licence is renewed. (more jobs)

She would: Expect all drivers to undergo an awareness course / assessment every time their photocard expires (more jobs)

A long discussion followed on the pros and cons! We decided that if people didn’t pass then that meant more work for taxi drivers and bus drivers

I would: Give all politicians a pay cut. And look at the pay of the civil servants.

She would: give any one who earned a silly amount of money (amount to be decided) a pay freeze

I would: Increase the Armed Forces personnel, improve their quarters, massively improve their kit. Sort out those contracts for massively overpriced and inadequate kit.

She would: Put all young people on leaving School either college, into paid work, into an apprenticeship, into the Armed Forces / Police / NHS for a set period of time rather than on benefits. Those with a disability to be found appropriate work with appropriate support (which will also increase work opportunities for older people)

We both would:  Increase nursing staff, auxillary staff, midwives, health visitors, District Nurses Bring back Matron and get rid of managers in the NHS, expect  Care and Common Sense to be major requirements for all staff

We would both: Stop free childcare, pay Mums to stay at home if they want to!! This would have the effect of freeing up jobs for others who are not working currently.

We would both: Stop foreign aid until our debts were paid, obviously we would chip in if a natural disaster happened.

We didn’t get any further as we ran out of time, but I would increase the pay of the ordinary Police Officer, Nurse, Teacher, Fireman, Ambulance personnel.

Yes, I may be looking at the world with rose-tinted spectacles, and as I said at the start, we would never make politicians, but in my simplistic little mind, it would go a long way to putting the world right.

I wonder what you think?
