Football Fixtures – The Anticipation.

“Well,” said Pooh, “what I like best,” and then he had to stop and think. Because although Eating Honey was a very good thing to do, there was a moment just before you began to eat it which was better than when you were, but he didn’t know what it was called.”

The Football League release the 2014/2015 football fixtures tomorrow (Wednesday) at 9.00am. Luckily for me I don’t work on a Wednesday – one of the perks of working part time.

This gives me time to take a trip to the dump (sorry, local recycling centre) and get back before they are published, and to perhaps get a load of washing on the line as well. Then it will all stop at 9. I will sit with a cup of tea (or a mocha from a sachet – I know how to live) and then turn on the laptop.

This means that I can peruse the fixtures for AFC Bournemouth at my leisure. I can print the list out, work out against my diary which matches I can actually go to, work out which matches I want to go to and begin to get excited about the new season.  Work out how many weekends away we can fit in, and if any fit around the Motor Home rallies we sometimes attend. Once I have done all that, then I am off out taking photographs. Two venues tomorrow. Photos to follow. Hope I can remember how to use the camera, it has been so long!

Speculation has already started as to if our first match of the season will be home or away. If the Boxing Day match will be against Brentford – away, already a bit of a tradition in our home as it means at least one or two pints in the Magpie and Crown, or if we will be at home to some-one else.

The Capital One Cup (previously known as the Football League Cup) round One has already been drawn and we are away to Exeter. Don’t think I will make that one.

Tonight we are waiting in anticipation, looking forward, yet back as we talk about the games we watched last season, the venues we visited, the highs, the lows. More worryingly we are discussing the team. Who is likely to leave, who is likely to join, what sort of team will we have at the start of the season. Will they gel? will they start as they mean to go on? Will they come through pre-season in one piece? Mr N has already bought his season ticket. I am steadfast in my decision. I will not be renewing mine. A decision I may live to regret, I hope not. Keep following to find out I guess!

So, until tomorrow, adieu.
